Narodil se 22. července 1900 v budově této školy (tehdy v Nových Benátkách) a zemřel 17. června 1982 v Praze, pohřben je ve svém rodném městě. Český historik, básník, literární kritik, editor a překladatel. V letech 1924–1939 a 1945–1948 působil na Univerzitě Karlově v Praze nejprve jako asistent historického semináře, od roku 1932 jako docent. Stal se jednou z obětí politických procesů a byl odsouzen na 15 let. V roce 1960 byl propuštěn a odešel do penze. V roce 1966 rehabilitován. Zdeněk Kalista is undoubtedly one of the most prominent and most interesting figures of Czech culture in the last century. He was born on 22 July 1900 in the building of this school and died on 17 June 1982 in Prague, but is buried in his hometown. Czech historian, poet, literary critic, editor and translator. Between 1924-1939 and 1945-1948 he worked at Charles University in Prague first as an assistant of a historical seminary, since 1932 as a lecturer. He became one of the victims of political processes and was sentenced to 15 years. In 1960 he was released and retired. In 1966 he was rehabilitated.
