It was one of the most important battles in our territory, which had a decisive influence on the further course of the Seven Years' War. In 1757, the troops of the Prussian King Frederick II clashed at Křečhor. with the Austrian army of Field Marshal Leopold Dauna. Initially, the indecisive battle ended in victory for the numerically stronger Austrian army. The battle memorial was built in 1898 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the accession of Emperor Francis Joseph I to the throne. The authors of the memorial are the architect Václav Weinzettel and the academic sculptor Mořic Černil, professional teachers of the sculpture school in Hořice. It is a monumental sculptural work with Art Nouveau elements, impressively placed on a gentle hill, forming the dominant element of the horizon. The original bronze plaques with reliefs are stored in Žert's granary in Bříství, in their place is a non-metallic copy. An ossarium (ossuary) was unveiled in the immediate vicinity of the memorial on June 20, 2010. Bones from a mass grave found in 2006 in the cadastre of the village of Křečhoř were reverently placed in it. The author of the design and project of the monument is Stanislav Pokorný and the investor was the municipality of Křečhoř.
