The statue of Benedict Rejt, standing on a high plinth and holding the plumb line, was unveiled on April 15, 1986 at Klement Gottwald Square, which had to be renamed right after the revolution in January 1990. The new name was chosen precisely because of the monument that was already standing on it, even when the town representatives forgot, that Louny already got one street named after Rejt - it´s the street leading to St. Nicholas Church, which was built by him. Probably because the street had a bit "alternative" variant of Rejt´s name - Beneš of Louny. The author of the statue is the sculptor Karel Kuneš (1920-1997) in cooperation with the architect Vladimír Urbanec.

Významný architekt a stavitel spojovaný s Louny, zj. coby místem svého posledního odpočinku.
Significant architect and builder associated with Louny, zs. as your last resting place. He participated in a major reconstruction of Prague Castle in Prague. To date, the Vladislav Hall, a jewel of late Gothic architecture, has been preserved.
