The Augustinian Convent with the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was founded by the Czech King Přemysl Otakar II. shortly after the founding of the town itself during the 1960s (however, the foundation dates back to Wenceslas II and his wife Judith from 1287). Shortly afterwards, the construction of the monastery complex followed. With the Hussite wars of 1420 came the looting of the convent with the destruction of the local religious community. It was not restored until April 1621. Throughout the fifteenth and subsequent sixteenth centuries, the monastery remained in ruins. It was not until 1671 that its restoration began. It was completed in 1746, but the fire of the following year damaged the newly renovated monastery again. Three years later, however, the already repaired convention served its purpose. It was completed in 1746, but in the next year's fire the newly repaired monastery was damaged again. Three years later, however, the already repaired convent served it´s purpose.

The monastery church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was built in the 14th century. In 1419, the Hussites raided the Domažlice Convent, burned down the convent buildings and looted the church. The monastery church was considerably devastated, subsequent repairs lasted almost until the end of the 17th century.

Konci The Gothic building of the monastery church built during the 14th century stands at the end of the Míru Square. The church was partially demolished during the Hussite Wars. The church was rebuilt in the present Baroque style from 1746 to 1752. Further adaptation took place in 1774 and also in 1892 and 1893.

Dominant of the western part of the square in Domažlice is the monastery church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the adjacent convent of the order of the rich Augustinians - monks whose founder is King Václav II in 1287. and his wife Jitka. The foundation charter was drafted in January 1288 by the Bishop of Prague, Tobias of Bechyne.
