The complex of buildings of the research institute built in the years 1920-1922 occupies one separate block in the sloping terrain of Ořechovka. It consists of seven buildings, of which four are original and three modern. The complex was designed by architect Josef Záruba-Pfeffermann, whose company built, among other things, a power plant in Prostějov and the State Agricultural Research Institute in Prague. Antonín Mendl may also have been involved in the project. The original investor was the Economic Administration of the Sugar Industry, in the 1980s the building served as a school, now it is used by the Institute of Physics of the ASCR. The architect Záruba-Pfeffermann was a well-known public figure. He took part in political life in 1910-14 as a member of the executive committee of the Masaryk Realist Party, he was also a participant in the First Resistance and a well-known political publicist.
