A venerable tradition, a very useful present.

The T. G. Masaryk Research Institute of Water Management was founded in 1919 as one of the first scientific institutes in independent Czechoslovakia. From the beginning, work was carried out in cramped conditions at several workplaces scattered throughout Prague, so from 1921 the construction of a new Prague building was considered. In the end, it was decided to build a large complex in Prague-Podbaba. The author of the architectural solution was the architect František Bartoš. Construction began in 1927. Three years later, building A with a hydrotechnical laboratory was completed, in 1933 also building B and after 1945 building C. In 1992, the concentration of all Prague workplaces in the Podbaba complex, which was in August 2002 was hit by extensive floods, from which it recovered for almost three years. Although there were huge losses in equipment and facilities, the basic buildings of the institute survived the flood. The Water Research Institute of T. G.
