Michalská Street was called "Behind the St. Michael's" in the Middle Ages and in the 18th century it was named "Watermelon street" by the House of the Golden Melon (sometimes also called Chotkovský). The documentary records of the house from 1401 prove that two separate Gothic houses originally stood here until 1760, whose construction history dates back to the 13th century. Renaissance rebuilding created today's four-winged disposition in the 16th century by completing a two-storey single-wing with arched stables on the ground floor on the eastern side. New Renaissance cellars were excavated beneath the southern wing. Michalská ulice se ve středověku nazývala Za Svatým Michalem a v 18. st. dostala jméno Melounová podle domu U Zlatého melounu (někdy také zvaný Chotkovský). Listinné záznamy o domě z r. 1401 dokazují, že zde až do roku 1760 původně stály dva samostatné gotické domy, jejichž stavební dějiny sahají do 13. století. Renesanční přestavba v pol. 16. století vytvořila dnešní čtyřkřídlou dispozici dostavbou dvoupatrového jednotraktového křídla s klenutými stájemi v přízemí na východní straně. Pod jižním křídlem byly vyhloubeny nové renesanční sklepy.
