The original market settlement was first documented in 1260. It was promoted to the town in 1340 and until the 16th century it was a dowry town of Czech queens. The original church is mentioned as early as in 1260. In 1745 the Gothic church burned down and could not be restored. The current one from builder Leopold Niedereckr from 1755 - 1782 is a late Baroque building with Rococo and Classicist elements. In the former sacristy, a chapel was established at the end of the 20th century (at the times of archdeacon Mirosław Michalak) and was ordained by Bishop Dominik Duke on the Feast of God's Mercy. And henceforth he is dedicated to God's Mercy. During the winter season (October to the end of May) there are worship services here on weekdays.
