Podle pověsti se na dostavbu nedostávalo písteckým financí a toho roku bylo navíc velké sucho. Hladina Labe výrazně poklesla a právě na jejím dně se našly mohutné dubové kmeny, zpevněné dlouhým máčením. Část kmenů byla využita na dostavbu kaple, část byla prodána, a za utržené peníze byl navíc dokoupen obraz Seslání Ducha svatého malíře Ludvíka Bernarda.
