The Information Center of Celtic Culture was opened in 2004 in the premises of Nižbor Castle, directly opposite the famous Oppida Stradonice, from which you have a little over 2.5 km walk from the castle on the marked route (all the time you will be accompanied by the "educational trail of Celtic Oppidum Stradonice" with six stops. From April 2018 the permanent exhibition "The Celts in the Heart of Bohemia" was modernized. It occupies the corridor and several rooms on the two floors of the castle and is divided into several thematic units. In the corridor you will find aerial photographs and information about our biggest and most important oppides in Czech midlands, three of them (Stradonice, Závist near Zbraslav and Hrazany) are located close to each other, west of Prague. One small room is styled as a Celtic dwelling, including clothes that you can try yourself. Another room gives information about the daily life of the Celts. You will learn the details of their craftsmanship, how they mined and processed the raw materials, how they lived and what they eat. There are scenes and symbols from Celtic life projected on the walls, several touch monitors with additional information are also part of the exhibition. A lot of information is presented in a very clear way, so it can understandable for the whole family. In the other premises of the chateau you can still see the exhibition called "Prvápubliková archeologie" (Archeology during the times of the 1st Republic), which describes the unprecedented boom of Czech professional archeology in the early 20th century until the end of the 1930s, when the promising development was interrupted by the German occupation. You can visit the exhibition at Nižbor Chateau in May, September and October on weekends and holidays from 10:00 to 17:00, in June, July and August, between 10:00 and 18:00 daily. Admission is 50 CZK for adult, 20 CZK for child.
