The beginnings of the Jewish religious community in Plaňany are not yet known. In the middle of the 19th century, about 130 Jews lived here, and probably one of the houses served as a place of worship. The original Jewish synagogue was built together with the neighboring Jewish school in the years 1858-1861 according to the plan of the master builder Josef French in the historicist style. In the first half of the 20th century, it was rebuilt into a prayer room of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church. The Hussite church built a bell tower above the western facade.
