Baroque church of st. It was built on the site of an older Gothic church in 1756. The church tower 50 meters high was completed in 1867. The church together with the chateau are the dominant buildings of the town.

The beautiful Baroque church on the square in Mníšek pod Brdy is ideal as the starting or ending point of the castle visit, depending on the time between the tours you will arrive. And it is definitely worthwhile to see the church (off-season is accessible only the entrance part of the boat separated by a beautiful artistic grid). Its author is not known, some architectural elements suggest that it might be a circle of Kilian Dientzenhofer. In 1868 a new neo-Romanesque bell tower was added to the western façade. In the years 1996-2000 he underwent reconstruction with the help of several hundred donors. Interesting: you can find here a rare, rare, ceiling painting of St. Marí Magdalény by Petr Brandl, which was transferred here from the dilapidated Baroque complex in the nearby pilgrimage area Skalka. Church of st. Wenceslas in Mníšek pod Brdy is certainly a big landmark of the whole township. Especially when the nearby chateau is not lit at night but just this church. In the period around Christmas there is also a nativity scene made from the underside of the church. Unfortunately, I cannot give an excellent rating, because even after two of my visits I could not even look into the church !!!

originally wooden, it stood in Mníšek at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. The old church was reconstructed by Mitrovica and served until 1756, when the new owner of the estate, Count Ignác Unvert, built a new baroque church in the middle of the square and became the new landmark of the town. The church originally did not have a tower which was added from the collections of parishioners in 1867. The builder is not known, but some features of the building and artistically executed walls around the church point to the school of Kilián Dienzenhofer.
