The Gothic church was built in Nová Ves just before 1300 by the Sedlec monastery, which bought the village from Hynek of Dubá in 1290. The rectory and the church are first mentioned in writing in 1352. The single-nave church was further modified at the beginning of the 15th century, three centuries later the tower was raised by one storey and in 1835-36 it was rebuilt in an Empire style. The vaulted presbytery and the lower part of the massive choir tower have been preserved from the original building. Surrounding the church is a abolished cemetery of oval plan with a statue of St. Wenceslas, where some valuable tombstones have been preserved.
