Libovice - Obecní Úřad

The first mention of the village Libovice comes from the second half of the 13th century. In the earliest times, the village, located on the Byseň brook, belonged to the provostship of the Prague church. The first known owner of the village or its part is A. Buzek from Libovice in 1380. Over time, the village changed its owners, until 1623, when it became the property of the Smečno nobility and thus remained permanently. In 1789, several farmers opened coal mines on their lands in the cadastre of the village. The center of the village square is decorated with a small chapel, which was built in 1787 under Emperor Joseph II. and reconstructed to its current form in 2010. In 2002, it was declared a cultural monument. The chapel is equipped with one bell and a double wooden cross. Inside, paintings of St. Wenceslas, St. John of Nepomuk and St. Anny.
