Pěkně udržovaná studánka s vodou vyvěrající z nerezové trubky uprostřed kamenné zídky, s čistým okolím a poblíž stojící lavičkou s příjemným výhledem. Nicely maintained well with water rising from a stainless steel tube in the middle of a stone wall, with clean surroundings and a neighboring bench with a nice view. The water source is the Pankrac terrace of river sands and sandy gravels. Topolka (Poplar´s) was the original name of the vineyard and according to legend, from this spring the water was taken for Vyšehrad. Drinking local water was believed to contribute to longevity. According to historians from this locality as early as in the 12th century, the water supply from the pine trunks led by gravity all the way to Vyšehrad, which would probably be one of the first water mains in Prague. Written mention of the water supply from 1361 has been preserved in the Archive of the Vyšehrad Chapter. According to the legend, Princess Libuše allegedly drank local water before the fortune-telling, hence its name "Libušina studánka" that is sometimes used. However, it is not clear whether the name Libuše´ Spring does not apply to a nearby Jezerka well. Even in the 1st half of the 1980s, Topolka was used extensively by locals, despite reports in the press about the defect of water. By 1955 there was a shelter above the well.

Voda dnes už není vhodná k pití, údajně obsahuje vyšší množství dušičnanů, ale v minulosti prý přispívala k dlouhověkosti a dodnes si ji někteří lidé stačí do lahví a odnáší domů.
Libušina studánka (spring), also called Topolka after the local vineyard, which no longer exists today. The water from this well was allegedly brought to the mythical Princess Libuše, who initiated the founding of Prague Castle and its glory that touches the stars. Today, water is no longer suitable for drinking, it allegedly contains a higher amount of nitrates, but in the past it is said to have contributed to longevity, and to this day some people just put it in bottles and take it home.

Questions about this object under this box are inappropriate. A lot is written here about history and quite objectively, but this is no longer the case about water. Regarding the drinking of water from the well, there was a long sign in the mica plates from the hygienic institute about the state of the water, where the composition was pointed out, but nothing exceeded the limit of the health threat. So, in my opinion, water is not harmful to health, despite the fact that we have been making tea or excellent coffee from it for years and nothing is happening. We're just waiting for that longevity. I am rather sorry that the old, massive willow standing on the plot behind the fence (see photos) is regularly trimmed to the trunk and new twigs sprout every year. They used to grow to the edge of a flat space, creating a beautiful romantic nook. Damage. Otherwise a very nice place. Oldrich Maudr
