The village was first mentioned in writing in 1253 in a document of King Wenceslas I. In the last century, however, a Slavic burial ground was discovered, which proves the settlement of Dubá in the 11th century. The famous aristocratic Berk family from Dubá came from Dubá and ruled a large area of ​​northern Bohemia in the Middle Ages. Its castle, which stood by the road above the cinema building, is now only reminiscent of uneven terrain. In 1622, the chateau and other Berk goods were confiscated and handed over to Albrecht of Wallenstein. One of the reasons why Dubá never grew into a larger city is the numerous fires, behind which the city always lay almost ashes. Fires in 1692 and 1711 destroyed all the original privileges that Dubá achieved over time (including the original chronicle). Dubá is a suitable starting point for hiking. There is a shop, ATM, restaurant, 2 cafes and more. Good connection with Prague, you are there by bus in an hour. Recommended hikes are to Nedvězí, Beškovský kopec, Nedamov, Berštejn and others (you can get off the bus from Prague, for example in Zakšín or Deštná, and walk through Nedvězí and Dražejov to the city).
