Very interesting story of the precious stones. A bit repetitive the texts and the movie.

Liked • The location was wonderful, right in the center of cesky krumlov. We ordered breakfast and it was served to us when we wanted in our room. Residents get free access to the museum in the hotel, everything in the museum is written in Czech, English and German. The staff was wonderful and speak fluent English. Disliked • The bed was a bit uncomfortable, very large pillows. There was also no elevator, it did not bother us though and it was also clear before we booked it.

In my opinion if you are watching this museum, you'll see it in 4 parts: -Film -Room 2 -moldavite stone room -Crush room (I named them like that) Film -> in many languages (also English), my favourite part Room 2 -> It's only okey Moldavite stone room -> that room looks good Crush room -> meteorite symulator

It's a small but modern, very well documented museum! It's located in the basement of an old building and I could notice the passion and effort they put into creating this museum. It starts in a little cinema room where you watch a short movie. Then, all the written explications are numbered, so you can follow a logical sequence of the info you're reading. The Moldavite pieces are exposed in so many forms, colours and sizes! You can even have a look at them under the microscope. There's also a game for children where they can compete in finding the Moldavite stone, there's a meteor throwing game which uses motion sensing for gesture recognition which makes it very very fun for all ages including adults. With all the information that was provided, I left the place with no need of double checking Wikipedia about Moldavite stones! Plus, I also left with a beautiful Moldavite jewellery that I bought from their store.

I only went because admission was included in staying at the hotel upstairs. It’s a very small museum with surprisingly well done audio visual displays and a movie. You can probably be done in 20 min or less. Moldavite is a type of “gem” created 50 million years ago when a meteorite struck the Bohemia region. There are interesting Moldavite jewelry and gifts you can buy at the gift shop/hotel reception which I think is the main point of this establishment.

So cool, definitely check it out if you're into science. Well-written, modern displays explaining how gemstones were created from a meteor landing and shot all over SW Czech Republic.
