A thoroughly enjoyable collection of Czech glass and ceramics in a beautifully restored building. There is much to see for a one floor exhibit, although too much about old locks and keys perhaps. Along with Czech arts there are German Meissen and French Sevres porcelain pieces… and some ancient Greek, Italian, and Asian wares. I spent more time here than any other museum in Pilsen. Note that the Museum of West Bohemia is several distinct collections in the same location, of which Applied Arts and Crafts (umělecké řemeslo) is just one. It occupies the third floor of the building and the ticket was 80 Czech Koruna when I visited.

This museum is a real jewel! The building itself is a beautifully restored art nouveau palace that would merit a visit on its own. There are three separate sections with separate tickets and since the woman at the counter did not speak any English or German it took us some time to figure this out: There are arts and crafts, an armoury and a historical section. We decided to visit this time the arts and crafts section which is located on the top floor. It contains mainly chech glass art, various porcelain and a big collection of old locks! While none of this really is within my key interests I was totally fascinated by the exhibition, first by the excellent quality of the exhibits and second by the beautiful vitrines and the taste with which the artworks were exhibited. When I return to Pilson I will certainly return to this museum as well to see the other departments. It is really a pity and a shame that this museum is not better known and more popular. I doubt you’ll find anything better outside of Prague.

Very few things to see. The tickets are separated, not fair. No suitable English instruction. Pity place.

Rip off of 60czk just to visit the armoury (which was really only a waste of time), you have to pay for each section separately 80czk if you want to see archeology etc.

We were wandering what we would see at Merkur exhibition. Very very poor for the family fee of 200CZK + 40CZK. The plus is for 3rd child! Do you understand why 3 kids family are handicapped in Czech?

I should have given myself more time! I dropped in here after the brewery tour expecting a small museum with some local exhibition. What I got was a awesome history from prehistory to modern day Pilsen and surrounding. You can select which exhibits to view, and I honestly, could have sunk another hour into it if I didn't need to catch my train. Highly recommend!

Museum in which a lot of the western bohemian history is well documented, lots of regional exhibits and explanations on archeological digging. Again if you're not fluent in Czech you only get a list in a foreign language that gives the names of the exhibits in the vitrines. Also the geology of the region is briefly explained in a rather small room. Liked the glassware, lock and "exotic" exhibition best. You can buy entrance allowances per level of the museum with individual pricing.
