We still do not know exactly when the settlement Perštejn was founded, but it is certain that its origin is closely connected with the castle Perštejn, after which it got its name. The first written mention of the castle dates from 1344. Since the 16th century, iron ore from the surrounding mines has been processed in Perštejn. Between 1633 and 1645, the village was repeatedly raided and looted by Swedish soldiers. The 18th century brought the development of the paper and wire industry. The extension of the railway from Prague via Chomutov to Cheb (1871) also helped to develop the local industry. Perštejn thus became a popular resort, which continues to this day.
