Maybe the world-class chef who works here doesn’t drink - no matter, Pepe Lopez has outstanding food & atmosphere... and is the FIRST restaurant we will visit next time we’re in Karlovy Vary. (Original review, Jan-2018) March 2019 update: I’m so excited to see they took our feedback to heart and now use El Jimador as their go-to tequila!!! Their margaritas are still a little martini-ish, but worlds better than last year. I love this place even more now! Thanks Pepe!

The two stars are just for the interior of the restaurant and one of the two waitresses that we had that visit (14.7) - I believe her name was Hanka (short dark hair). The other waitress (young and blonde) was pretty arrogant and not really there. When we asked for her opinion, she didn’t recommend anything and didn’t really help us with the order. We waited an hour for our order with no apology, even tho the restaurant was completely empty and they had just the outside area to take care of. Other people that came after us got their meals before us. The food was ok for a restaurant that is trying to cook Mexican food, but I would never call it Mexican food. The enchiladas we ordered were very hard, crispy and crunchy like if we were eating nachos, which is wrong! They didn’t have lot of drink options that they offer in their menu. We were really disappointed and the service and food was definitely not worth the money we spent over there.

Below are the things I didn’t fully enjoy Sauces are home made(apart from the red one -was more ketchup like , so not my fav) Strawberry margarita- too much agave and ice - didn’t feel any alcohol Service- waitress was super sweet, but there was another waiter and he was really rude to me and was just throwing things at the table

Waitress brought wrong order and argued with me about what I had ordered. I then waited 45 minutes for the correct order to come. Chips are stale, salsa from a can. Disappointing, will not return.

Highlight is the staff: the service crew was very friendly, polite and asked frequently if everything is fine. Orders were processed immediately. Were there two evenings for dinner and cocktails of our five-day trip to Carlsbad. Would go there again.
