★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pomník Aloise Jiráska (1851–1930), spisovatele spjatého svým životem i tvorbou mimo jiné i s Litomyšlí, byl ve městě odhalen roku 1959. Autorem byl sochař Vincenc Makovský (1900–66). Památník najdete v centru města ve spodní části malého parku u přístupové cesty ze Smetanova náměstí ke zdejšímu renesančnímu zámku, pod objektem dnešního muzea, kde v dřívější době sídlilo gymnázium, na němž v letech 1874-77 a 1882-88 Alois Jirásek vyučoval dějepis a zeměpis. Žil v Litomyšli čtrnáct let, poté město opuští už jako respektovaný spisovatel. Město se odráží v řadě jeho děl.
The monument of Alois Jirásek (1851-1930), a writer connected with his life and work with Litomyšl (among others), was unveiled in the town in 1959. The sculptor was Vincenc Makovsky (1900-66). The monument can be found in the city center at the bottom of a small park near the access road from Smetana's Square to the Renaissance chateau under the building of today's museum - formerly a grammar school where Alois Jirásek was teaching history and geography in 1874-77 and 1882-88. He lived in Litomyšl for fourteen years, then left the town as a respected writer. The city is reflected in a number of his works.
