Přírodní památka Zámky

A beautiful piece of Prague nature on the east-oriented slopes of the Vltava (between the mouth of the Drahaňský brook and the settlement of Zámky). The area is divided into two parts by the sharply cut Castle Gorge and is formed by rocks of the Upper Ancient Mountains. This is the source of an interesting local primacy: these are the oldest rocks in Prague. In most parts of the territory, dark shales, which settled at the bottom of the then sea more than 640 million years ago, come to the surface. It's quiet here, on a nice weekend afternoon I met only two locals. From the east side you can walk to the Castle Gorge, where the Bohnice Dynamitka used to be. It looks a bit like Chernobyl. It requires caution, there are sometimes uncovered pits in the ground.
