A beautiful piece of Prague nature on the eastern slopes of the Vltava River (between the mouth of the Drahaňský brook and the settlement of Zámky). The area is divided into two parts by the sharply incised Zámecká Gorge and is formed by rocks of the upper Old Mountains. This is the source of an interesting local first place: these are the oldest rocks in Prague. In most of the area, dark shales that were deposited on the bottom of the sea more than 640 million years ago rise to the surface. It's quiet here, and on a nice weekend afternoon I met only two locals. From the east side you can walk into the Zámecká Gorge, where the Alfred Nobel Dynamit factory used to be. It looks a bit like Chernobyl. You have to be careful, there are uncovered holes in the ground.
