The village of Obříství has been an important transhipment point for goods floated on the Elbe since the 14th century. Under the local chateau, wagons were loaded and from there further transported to Prague. In 1841-51 Obříství was the destination port of steamships sailing from Dresden and a transfer station for stagecoach further to Prague. An Englishman John Andrews received the privilege of steaming on the Vltava and Elbe. After a successful test voyage of his first steamboat called Bohemia on 25 May 1841 he was approved for 15 years. At that time, the regular Obříství-Dresden line and back began. Steamships also transported many groceries and other goods from/to Germany. Sailing from April to November has become a fashionable thing, it was very much sought after by the manor and the rush of passengers was so great that the ship was almost overcrowded every time. The operation of the Obříství-Dresden passenger line lasted only ten years, with freight transport remaining a little longer - until 1865, when the Kralupy-Turnov railway was opened.
When I was walking along the left bank of the Elbe on the first weekend in December, except for one dog breeder, it was deserted. The imagination could have worked all the better, and I imagined how lively there was in the 19th century. Máte-li loď můžete i přirazit.
If you have a ship you can even assign.

Hodně pozvolný sjezd a mělko, takže spíš na pramice a menší lodě, ale krásné místo
Very slow descent and shallow, so more for rowboats and smaller boats, but a beautiful place
