The first written mention of the Romanesque church dates from 1384 and is associated with the name of the knight Jan of Obříství. It was rebuilt in Gothic style in the middle of the 15th century and in the Renaissance style in the middle of the 16th century. Other Baroque alterations took place in the 17th, another in the following century. The Baroque onion-shaped dome dates from the end of the 17th century. In the 19th century, the manor oratory was opened directly from the chateau, making the building a chateau church. An interesting quadrangular bell tower by the church dating from the mid-16th century. On the brick ground floor there is a wooden part of the strut structure, merging into a narrower bell floor. The building ends with a low mansard roof. Three bells were originally placed on the narrower bell floor. The oldest bell dating from the construction of the bell tower was requisitioned during World War I. The other two bells date from 1568 and 1616. The beautiful church stands in the area of ​​the chateau, to which it is structurally connected. It has a neo-Gothic appearance, it is decorated with Renaissance envelopes. In front of it stands a Renaissance half-timbered bell tower. In front of the bell tower is a very interesting memorial to the victims of World War I. The church commemorates the marriage of Bedřich Smetana to his second wife.

The church in the village Obříství stands near the castle and Joho regotizační partial modification of the years circa. 1825. Of note is the fact that here in c. 1860 B. Smetana twice married a local girl (others see the memorial. No. 12) .
