The monument with a bust of Svatopluk Čech in a park on the village square was unveiled on 19 June 1921. The poet and novelist allegedly liked the places from where he saw Mount Říp. That is why in 1895 he bought a house No. 83 with a garden in Obříství. Later, a wooden annex was added, originally an exhibit of the Prague Ethnographic Exhibition. From Obříství, the poet remotely ran the Květy magazine. However, he did not enjoy much peace here, because he was regularly visited by friends of writers, such as Ignát Hermann, Josef Václav Rais, Václav V. Štech, Jaroslav Vrchlický, Karolína Světlá, or Mikoláš Aleš. The Czech House currently serves as the ceremonial hall of the village. The monument on the square also includes several blocks as a reminder that it was built of the remaining stones after the regulation of the Elbe in 1914. It was restored in 1946, the original bronze bust was stolen in 1996, the current stone was created in 1998 by Lubomír Růžička.
