The church was built on older foundations between 1585-94. The expansion and significant baroque rebuilding of the church took place in 1700-03, probably led by mason master Kristian Lagler. The church is a three-nave basilica with a rectangular presbytery and a prismatic tower on the western façade, adjacent to a small staircase tower. On the top floor, the prismatic tower is narrowed and surrounded by a pavilion behind which the apartment of fire watcher was located. The tower is covered by a characteristic Baroque pillar roof that was acquired at the last major reconstruction in 1703. You can experience the view from the tower's gallery by yourself. Part of the visit is an exposition about the history and architecture of the city, and you can also see the exhibition of paper lookout towers (the exhibition changes over time). Interesting: Under the church there are tombs of two aristocratic families - holders of Teplice: Vchyn and Clary-Aldringen.
