Najdete v ní oddělení pro dospělé, pro děti, studovnu, čítárnu, oddělení pro nevidomé, hudební oddělení a informační centrum pro neziskové organizace. Knihovna pořádá i různé doprovodné akce, od besed se spisovateli, překladateli a ilustrátory knih Zřizovatelem je Město Strakonice. Instituci najdete v krásné budově II. hradního nádvoří.
