Overcharged. Thats how I feel after staying in Sanssouci. The hotel doesn't meet 4* standards - the rooms are very small (it's difficult to fit your bags inside), the reception staff is unwelcoming, spa staff is rude and wellness area is... simply bad. You can use a pool, tiny jacuzzi and finish sauna. None of them will let you relax the way you expect to relax in a 4* hotel. After finishing a sauna session it was impossible to find a place to sit down for a cool down (10 sunbeds for all the guests). And the only seats offered are next to a noisy pool... Starting from the light and ending on the choice of super slippery tiles for the floor, the place was badly designed and lacking the essential things that any spa/wellness should offer. The cherry on top was a hot stone massage for my boyfriend, that never happened even though it was booked and confirmed. There was no apology or compensation, which shows a lack of respect for the time of the guests.

Let’s begin straightforwardly: this place shouldn’t be called a “Spa Resort”. It’s rather a hotel with a pool, a super small jacuzzi (for 4 people) and 1.5 saunas (one mixed for ~10 people and another one only for ladies where 2 could fit well). There is no area to rest after the sauna. Also, there are only 10 sunbeds for a 200+ people hotel, so there’s almost no chance of getting one. I wanted to have a stone massage. I couldn’t book one on arrival because the two women on reception spoke only Czech, German or Russian (and they treated us as if it was our fault to not speak one of those languages). My German was enough to do the check-in but not to ask about the massage offers that we wanted to take. In the evening, we went to the reception of the Spa area and the receptionist also spoke very limited English. She was able, nevertheless, to book me a stone massage for the following day. The massage, however, didn’t happen. There was no one in the room where it was supposed to take place and the woman in the Spa reception said that indeed no one showed up. Complete waste of time as I had planned my day around it. I had read in Google some bad reviews and saw that the hotel replied that if something bad happens, we should go to the reception while they can still fix it and not just complain afterwards. So, I went to the hotel reception and the receptionist wrote down my problem and said that someone will come the following morning to try to fix it or discuss it. But, no one came. I couldn’t reschedule the massage as I was staying only for 2 nights and I anyway didn’t feel like it anymore, at least not in that hotel. To conclude, do not come to this place if you’re looking for a “Spa Resort”. There are way more options in Karlovy Vary at the same price range. If you’re simply looking for a place to spend the night, I’m sure you’ll also be able to find something better and cheaper. My advice to the hotel, change your name to simply Hotel, and remove one of your stars (the bedroom is definitely not from a 4* one). Provide information about the massage offer in the main reception and hire personnel that speak English.

Stay was okay. Karlovy vary is not very international thus we experienced some issue communicating with the staff on reception, dining and telephone. Luckily my wife speaks German and it was better than English. One can make it just be aware you need patience. Relax and it will be okay. Hotel is big, spacious and when we were there we felt its mostly geared towards czech internal tourists. The breakfast was the same everyday, got tired of it after 2 days. They got options but it was not something for us. I wouldn’t recommend the food there. The view was great. We stayed on 6th floor. It overlooks a imperial hotel and rolling hills.

The hotel location is nice, but you should reserve a parking spot. the access between the buildings are complicated to old people and couples with baby, the pool is not really warm and is closed part of the day. The food is OK, nothing special.

Room had 3 electric outlets far from beds. Very unfriendly receptionists and room not close to description on booking.com There were no instructions about services provided like massages or cosmetic treatments. Everything was directed to reception and ladies there send you to another reception or just look at you and raised their shoulders. Coffee maker and cups in rooms but no coffee or tea. No price list for minibar.

Positives - Great Location and lovely reception and bar staff. Pool and sauna well organized and clean Negatives - Thai massage is definitely not. Just a rub down with cream. Total waste of money. Food choice is mediocre

+ Good breakfast a lot of options, balcony, forest, ability to go to pool inside of buildings, everybody speaks English, receptionists are nice, - Small jacuzzi, not all workers at breakfast are friendly (swear in Czech when I seat not where she wants?.. And don’t come at 10:00 when breakfast finishes 10:30, they will show you how they are not happy), small room, massages here are joke (for almost 1000 Kc for 20 minutes I expect orgasm but they just stroke you.. I had 2 different massages)
