The late Gothic town palace temple was built by Jan Císař from Hliník around 1490 on the slope above Jizerou up to the line of the town walls. The name Templ was given to the palace because of the unsubstantiated rumor, according to which it was built for the Templar Order, whose members had to bring to Mladá Boleslav Jan of Michalovice, one of the leading Czech princes during the reign of King Wenceslas II. In 1886, the Regional Museum Association, which opened its first exhibition in the following year, received it into its administration. Nowadays, the permanent museum exhibition takes you through the history of the city from the prehistoric times until 1600, when Mladá Boleslav was promoted to the royal city. In the exhibition not only authentic objects are exposed, but also the whole finding situations, as archaeologists have uncovered ´em. In the lower part of the Temple is created a possible shrine of the Celts according to a real pattern of cave simulation. The temple is also very popular among children - they can try the work of archaeologists, throw imitations of prehistoric spears on animal dummies, or build a wooden model of some important youth building in Mlada Boleslav. This is why schools and kindergartens comming here very often from a wide area of Mladá Boleslav district.

A nice monument tucked away from the square in Mladá Boleslav. The nice lady took us around the building from the cellar to the upper floor where there are exhibitions. Nicely designed exposition. Worth a visit.

The exhibition in the historic Temple is interesting, the tour is so long that you enjoy it. I liked that you can take out a coin yourself at the box office for 20 crowns. There are several ideas to choose from and it's a nice souvenir.

Krásná historická památka na Starém městě v Mladé Boleslavi, schovaná v útulné uličce. Připravují zde hodně programů pro děti a rodiče. Jedna fotečka s výrobky vytvořenými v Templu.
A beautiful historical monument in the Old Town of Mladá Boleslav, hidden in a cozy alley. They prepare a lot of programs for children and parents. One photo with products created in the Temple.
