Velká Chuchle Cemetery - Praha-Velká Chuchle

Chuchle cemetery, which was founded here due to floods. Previously, the cemetery was located in a valley by the Vltava River.

Chuchelský cemetery is located in Prague 16 in the Velká Chuchle district, in Chuchelský háj near the church of St. John of Nepomuk. In Chuchle, there used to be a cemetery near the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Malá Chuchle. Because it was often flooded, a new cemetery was established for the inhabitants of both Chuchle above the village, on a hill in the woods. The cemetery has two parts - the old one, where the graves are located, and the new one, which is arranged as an urn grove and which is separated from the old cemetery by the original cemetery wall. There is a morgue in the passage between the two cemeteries, in the central part of the old cemetery there is a black cast iron cross with Christ on the main road. The main entrance to the old part of the cemetery leads from the church, the new part of the cemetery has a separate entrance to the urn grove, where the plates are placed on the ground in the grass among the trees.
