★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Remains of the medieval castle deep in the Šumava mountains forest. The travel there takes time, the road is narrow and winding, but leads through beautiful forest scenery. The final 0.5 km you should walk to the mountain top. A castle tower and some pieces of walls are not much to look at. Most people come here for the scenery and views over surrounding hills and the Lipno lake. When we came, the castle was shrouded in fog, it was raining, and the tower was closed. So you should mind a weather before going to the Vítkův castle.

When you get on top of Vitkuv castle you get awesome views of lake Lipno
Hike is good for all ages

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice old castle. Fairly high up in the Bohemian Mountains. You can hike or bike up there. Or take the car, on narrow roads. 70kcr to go up the old tower for a panorama view.
