Před rokem 1533 získal panství Adam z Říčan, který zde založil renesanční zámek s arkádovým nádvořím. Roku 1637 se majitelem stává Jan Rudolf ze Štemberka a jeho rod zde působil až do znárodnění v roce 1948. Na počátku 19. století za Františka Josefa ze Štemberka byl zámek barokně upraven, zámecká věž byla nově zakončena cimbuřím. Roku 1982 zámek užívaný armádou jako skladiště barviv vyhořel. Po roce 1989 se panství opět vrátilo do rukou paní Diany Sternberg-Phipps a začíná zámecká rekonstrukce. Od roku 1999 je ve věži otevřena výstavní síň, součástí zámku je i samostatně stojící stavba grotty a zámecká obora, kde byla zřízena roku 2014 naučná stezka Zásmucká bažantice. The first mention of Zásmuky comes from 1285, when the fortress of Bishop Sulislav of Zásmuk, the chef of Queen Guta, the wife of Wenceslas II, stood here. Before 1533, the manor was acquired by Adam of Říčany, who founded a Renaissance chateau with an arcaded courtyard. In 1637, Jan Rudolf of Štemberk became the owner and his family worked here until nationalization in 1948. At the beginning of the 19th century, under František Josef of Štemberk, the chateau was remodeled in the Baroque style, the chateau tower was newly finished with battlements. In 1982, a castle used by the military as a dye depot burned down. After 1989, the manor returned to the hands of Mrs. Diana Sternberg-Phipps and the castle reconstruction begins. An exhibition hall has been open in the tower since 1999, the chateau also includes a free-standing grotto building and the chateau game reserve, where the Zásmucká bažantice nature trail was established in 2014.

Zastavte se tu a doufejme, že se dílo zdaří ! I admire the Sternbergs (one of the most venerable families in our country) for their efforts to restore this monument, which the Nazis and the Communists took after them. Stop by and hopefully work will work!

Když se pozorně podíváte na morový sloup z r. 1700 uvidíte i pána co provádí údržbu všech soch. Krásná práce. Pánovi děkuji že mi dovolil ho vyfotit při opravě soch. It can be seen that the owner takes care of the castle like a good Czech. Apparently it costs him a lot of money, but in time it will probably be all over again. If you look closely at the plague column from 1700, you will also see the lord who maintains all the statues. Beautiful work. Thank you to the Lord for allowing me to take pictures of him while repairing the statues.
