An interesting place belonging to our history, a tour with an interesting commentary about our greatest composer. Definitely recommend to all with other places like the museum and the castle that you do not miss. Visiting Litomyšl did not disappoint me. I recommend.

Borrowed exhibits? It's no problem when you know what to do with them. And in Smetana's native apartment, you can clearly see the purpose for which the exhibition is designed. The small space gives a comprehensive picture of how little Bedřich lived here. The additional exhibition about Emma Destinnová is excellently put together and shows what the life of a great artist and promoter of Czech music was like. I warmly recommend!!

In the ground floor of the former chateau brewery, where Bedřich Smetana was born in 1824, there is an exhibition that commemorates the composer's childhood in Litomyšl. He tries to bring the visitor closer to the atmosphere of the then Smetana household, family life, related events and in the selection also their reflection in Smetana's work. The main features of Smetana's "homes" (Jindřichův Hradec, Růžkovy Lhotce, Plzeň, Prague, Swedish Gothenburg, Jabkenice) are also rebuilt. With the exception of a few objects from the property of the Regional Museum in Litomyšl, most of the exhibits are lent by the National Museum - the Museum of Czech Music in Prague. The permanent exhibition is annually enriched by an accompanying exhibition to the Smetana's Litomyšl music festival. Admission is 40 CZK. You will receive a text for the tour and you can complete the quiz at the end of the tour. Very informative and worth visiting!

A short and brief tour, we definitely recommend it if you are at the castle. The apartment is very nicely renovated and at least a little closer to the time of Bedřich Smetana. It is possible to play the period piano, it's a pity we can't do it. :-)

Our visit took place at a time of almost flood and, most importantly, still drapes. We headed to the house after a visit, a tour of the castle. Unfortunately, we just hit a lunch break, but the helpful guide came out to meet the tour when we explained that we were passing through on the way home. As already written, this is a basement apartment, modified with the help of exhibits, will bring us closer to the composer's childhood. The guide took us and provided an explanation accompanied by the composer's music. Admission only to the house 40 CZK, but it is possible to buy a combined discounted admission to the gallery.

There is also an interactive room for children with musical instruments and tasks (adults will enjoy themselves). The tour was without a guide, you will get A4 with information, you can walk all the premises at your own pace or try to play the wing.
