The Czech writer, poet, poetry translator, librettist, women's movement activist Eliška Krásnohorská was born on November 18, 1847 in Prague and died there on November 26, 1926. The monument in the middle of Charles Square, created from Romanian white marble, was financed by funds provided by the Czech Women's Production Association and unveiled on 31 May 1931. The author of the monument is Karla Vobišová-Žáková. At first the statue was placed on the corner of the crossroads, but after the construction of the metro station it was moved deeper into the park in 1982. For this monument, the sculptor received an award from the Academy of Sciences and Arts. Karla Vobišová (1887–1961) was the first Czech professional sculptor. She graduated from the School of Stonemasonry and Sculpture in Hořice, allegedly as the first woman in history, then the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, and continued her education in Paris with August Rodin. Česká spisovatelka, básnířka, překladatelka poezie, libretistka, aktivistka ženského hnutí Eliška Krásnohorská se narodila 18. listopadu 1847 v Praze a tamtéž 26. listopadu 1926 zemřela. Pomník uprostřed Karlova náměstí, vytvořený z rumunského bílého mramoru, byl zhotoven z prostředků poskytnutých Ženským výrobním spolkem českým a odhalen 31. 5. 1931. Autorkou pomníku je Karla Vobišová-Žáková. Nejdříve stál na nároží křižovatky, ale po výstavbě stanice metra byl v roce 1982 posunut hlouběji do parku. Za tento pomník sochařka obdržela vyznamenání od Akademie věd a umění. Karla Vobišová (1887–1961) byla první českou profesionální sochařkou. Vystudovala kamenickou a sochařskou školu v Hořicích, údajně jako první žena v historii, poté UMPRUM, dál se vzdělávala v Paříži u Augusta Rodina.

Nice church with a lovely park surrounding it. Even if it is in the middle of the city, it is very relaxing, especially during sunny days. There are many flowers and the gardens are well kept, making it the ideal spot for a short break during the day or after some shopping in downtown.
