Holy Trinity Column

There is a very mysterious place. Isoterics from Europe showed it to us. About 7bmeters towards the center of the square there is a strong vibration.

The dominant feature of Teplice Square, where the townspeople paid tribute to God that Black Death avoided the city.

A great Baroque work, which next to the column of the same consecration in Olomouc (UNESCO memorial), I rank among the foremost in Central Europe.

This year marks the 300th anniversary of the creation of the Pillar of Plague in 1718-1719, which was erected on Castle Square as a thank you for ending the plague in 1713. The three-sided baroque sandstone obelisk is dedicated to the Holy Trinity.

Marian and Plague Columns are among the most sought-after architectural monuments during my wanderings through the ancient cities of Bohemia. I rank the Teplice one among the most impressive. It was built in the years 1718-19 as a thank you for averting the plague from Teplice in 1713. The author of the design is the excellent Czech Baroque sculptor Matyáš Bernard Braun. V. A. Bümel undertook the realization of the stonemason's work, and Braun himself and his workshop took over the sculptural decorations. At first, he wanted to refuse the task, given his busy schedule, but after learning that the reward was to be over 70,000 gold, he nodded at work. No wonder. At that time, it was possible to buy two luxury burgher houses on Prague's Old Town Square. A hexagonal plinth with three pools of a fountain, carries a triangular obelisk, on the top of which a sculptural group of the Holy Trinity is mounted on an earth globe. The obelisk is crowned with a number of clouds with cupids. In the lower parts of the plinth are placed statues of plague patrons - St. Sebastian, St. Rocha, vol. John the Baptist, St. Paul and St. Karel Boromejský. The walls of the plinth bear Baroque reliefs that use themes from the Old Testament. The Teplice Column of the Holy Trinity is counted among the most beautiful and best works of the world-famous Baroque sculptor. Six-sided plinth with three pools of a fountain carries a triangular obelisk on top of which is a sculpture of the Holy Trinity on the earth's ball. The obelisk is decorated with lots of clouds. In the lower parts of the pedestal there are placed the statues of the plague patrons - St. Šebestián, St. Roch, St. Jan Baptist, St. Paul and St. Karel Boromejský. The plinth walls bear Baroque reliefs that use the Old Testament themes. The Heavenly Column of the Holy Trinity is considered to be one of the most beautiful and best works of the world-famous Baroque sculptor.
