House At Deep cellar - Nerudova 234

The oldest building history of the house is resembled by a Gothic cellar along the western border of the parcel. The house was later rebuilt in Renaissance style and several times in Baroque style. The work of the Early Baroque construction (around 1690-1693) is also printed into today's volute shield. The smoother front facade of the rear building turns to Jánská Street. A number of historical structures and elements have been preserved. The famous Baroque sculptor Jan Oldřich Mayer had lived in this house since 1721. He studied in Vienna, settled in Prague in 1696, married here and lived in Malá Strana until his death. He was in contact with the famous builders like Palliardi, stucco master Bernard Spinetti, sculptors Karel Josef Hiernel, Ondřej Filip Quitainer, the Brokof family, and Matyáš Bernard Braun. Nejstarší stavební historii domu připomíná gotický sklep podél západní hranice parcely. Dům byl později snad přestavován renesančně a v několika etapách barokně. Dílem raně barokní výstavby (kolem 1690-1693) je i dnešní volutový štít. Střídmější průčelí zadní budovy se obrací do Jánské ulice. Zachována zůstala řada historických konstrukcí a prvků. V domě žil a roku 1721 zemřel významný barokní sochař Jan Oldřich Mayer. Vyučil se ve Vídni, roku 1696 se usadil v Praze, oženil se zde a až do své smrti žil na Malé Straně. Stýkal se se stavitelem Palliardim, štukatérem Bernardem Spinettim a se sochaři Karlem Josefem Hiernlem, Ondřejem Filipem Quitainerem, rodinou Brokofů a také s Matyášem Bernardem Braunem.
