Just a fountain in the square ?

Nice square except for the traffic! That spoils the impression.

The fountain is nicely restored ... unfortunately the traffic of cars is quite strong.

Beautiful, newly restored fountain on the square of Bohemian Paradise in Turnov, replaced the fountain demolished in 1953. The statue of the Virgin Mary is from the original fountain and after the demolition was rescued in the church. Nicholas.

Turnov is a nice town with a beautiful square and a fountain. What more to write, everything clean maintained.

The sandstone fountain with a gilded statue of the patron saint of Turnov, the Virgin Mary on the square of Bohemian Paradise, is such a small local rarity - it connects the fountain and the Marian Column. It is a reduced replica of the original fountain, which stood in the middle of the square from 1778 onwards. A slightly later statue of the Virgin Mary, the patron saint of Turnov, the work of the Prague sculptor Josef Max, has been preserved from it. Its first gilding was taken in 1848 from the Turnov citizens. Due to the will of the communist power, the fountain was removed on Good Friday in 1953. The idea to restore the fountain was born after 1989 in the Association of Natives and Friends of Turnov, a number of Turnov citizens contributed financially and Bohuslav Horáček, an exceptional patron of the city and Bohemian Paradise. The work was performed by the stonemason company Nosek-Jon from Hořice in the Krkonoše foothills. The ceremonial consecration of the fountain and the opening of the entire newly reconstructed square took place on October 28, 1998 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia. The work was done by the stone company Nosek-Jon from Hořice in Podkrkonoší. The festive consecration of the fountain and the opening of the whole newly reconstructed square took place on 28 October 1998 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia.
