Mirador del Castillo

Another place with a beautiful view of old Prague, if you can get closer to the walls through the crowds of tourists. The best time to enjoy the view in peace is either early in the morning or after the Prague Castle closing hours. The platform completes the climb on the Old Castle Steps, which lead from the Lesser Town to the area, which is called "Na Opyši" and subsequently to the eastern gate of Prague Castle. "Opyš" is an old place name appearing already in the 12th century. The Old castle stairs were built probably as early as the 16th century, but the street name has been used since 1829 and it is probably derived from the Old Road, which ran above the castle in the 9th century. The whole staircase is about 150m long and has 121 steps. During its existence it has undergone several reconstructions, the last one was in 2009, when archaeological research was carried out here. Nejlepší doba vychutnat si výhled v klidu je buď brzy ráno, nebo po zavíracích hodinách Pražského hradu. Plošina završuje stoupání po Starých zámeckých schodech, které vedou z malostranské ulice Pod Bruskou do prostoru, který je orientačně nazýván Na Opyši a následně k východní bráně Pražského hradu. Opyš je starý pomístní název, objevující se již ve 12. století. Staré zámecké schody byly postaveny snad již v 16. století, ovšem uliční jméno je používáno až od roku 1829 a je zřejmě odvozen od Staré cesty, která vedla nad hrad souběžně již v 9. století. Celé schodiště je dlouhé asi 150m a má 121 schodů. Za dobu své existence prošlo několika rekonstrukcemi. Poslední proběhla v roce 2009, kdy zde byl proveden i archeologický výzkum.

Wonderful view, great for seeing the beautiful city at a clear day. The place is really close to the castle which is obviously a great attraction as well. If you're lucky you'll get to see the church choir kids preforming which is absolutely stunning. The food is pricey at the market, even if good, so I'd recommend eating a bit further down the street where the prices are still ok for the same meal.

Pretty nice observation desk which can view the Prague city. Nice photo opportunities as Prague is a very beautiful town. The view is perfect, almost all the visitors from the castle are having a quick stop in order to admire the view and take some good shots.

While walking up the stairs. Look to your left. There might be a queue, this is the queue for the entrance to the castle. Just buy the church tickets once inside. It is by far the most beautiful and important thing in this small journey up to the castle.

Not far from Prague castle and it's collection of museums is this observation point. It's a good place to stop for a rest on the way up to the castle, or on the way down after visiting the aforementioned castle. Either way, this observation deck provides great views of Prague down below without having to pay for the privilege. The views are very good, though not outstanding, as it's more of a roof eyes view rather than a bird eyes view. Worth a stop if visiting the castle.
