Beautiful church, I only saw it from the outside but I was very interested

It is certainly not a place to turn off on your first visit to Prague, but if you pass by or if you already know other attractions in the city, it is worth visiting. It has a beautiful facade and the church, at the end of it, is really beautiful.

Chtělo by to udržovat pořádek i z venčí, pokud nechcete kolemjdoucí odrazovat k návštěvě...
It would like to keep order from outside if you don't want to discourage passers-by ...

The exterior facade is relatively simple and unobtrusive, the entrance is not wheelchair accessible, it is a staircase. Inside, however, there is a surprisingly spacious and wonderfully preserved, including all the equipment, a preserved Baroque temple, which was probably saved from the communist rampage as part of the Apolinar Hospital. The church is inaccessible outside worship, but its visit is a great experience.

Kostel, kaple i konvent, včetně nemocniční budovy, byl v roce 1949 minulým režimem alžbětinkám zabaven. Svůj majetek dostaly zpět až v roce 1991. The High Baroque monastery complex according to the project of Kilian Ignác Dientzenhofer was built in the place where a house surrounded by a vineyard is documented already in the 14th century. From 1681 a home for emeritus priests with a chapel stood here, which was relocated in 1705 and the abandoned place was occupied by nursing Order Elizabeth. In 1725 the church was consecrated, the convent was built between 1726 - 1732, in 1762 a chapel of St. Tekla, designed by Josef Ignác Juschka, was added to the left of the facade. The church is characterized by a 31.5 meter high bell tower over a massive façade with a decorative casula window and a double-winged staircase. In the middle of the shield there is a niche with a statue of the Virgin Mary of Seven Sorrows. The church, the chapel and the convent, including the hospital building, were confiscated by communist regime in 1949. The order have not receive their property back until 1991.

The church was built between 1724 and 1725 for the Convent of Elizabeth. It is one of a number of buildings designed by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer in Prague ... The design was allegedly created by simplifying another, unrealized building. This was to be the Church of St. John of Nepomuk, who was to stand in Hradčany.

The church, part of the Baroque Elizabethan monastery, is built in the hillside, hence the entrance through the stairs. I think the venerable sisters have a lot to do with keeping the hospital running, and they don't have the resources to do the church maintenance.
