The new Jewish cemetery was founded in 1883. On the area of 2684 m² around 300 tombstones have been preserved since the foundation of the cemetery until World War II. In the early 1990s the cemetery was cleaned up, the ceremonial hall was repaired during the 1990s and is used as a memorial to the victims of Nazism. It houses an exhibition dedicated to the Jewish community of Benešov. The last synagogue in town, built in 1845 on land donated by Prince Lobkowicz, and since 1945 used as a choir of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church, was demolished in 1976.
