The area between the streets Na Valech, Badeniho, Na Baště sv. Ludmila and Na Baště sv. Jiří in Prague 6 is named after the wife of the first Czechoslovak president - Charlotte G. Masaryk. It was established in 1913 after the purchase of military land by municipalities, probably according to the design of architect Karel Skalák. These places originally had a defensive moat - the character of the place gives the shape of the former Baroque fortifications. The park is axially bisected by K Brusce Street, the only surviving Baroque city gate in Prague - the Písek Gate. It was built in 1721 by the architect Giovanni Battista Alliprandi according to the design of František Vogot and wedged between the bastions of St. George and St. Ludmila. The decoration with military emblems is from J. Mayer. In 2000, the park was reconstructed and the following year was given its current name. Further reconstruction took place between 2003 and 2006.
