Restaurace La Hospoda Karlovy Vary

This restaurant (and mainly it kitchen staff) should get 6 stars. Best food we had in Karlovy Vary. A lot of restaurants in Karlovy Vary are trying to be posh, cooking from rare ingredients (think truffles, caviar) but the final effect is a mediocre taste at weirdly castle-ish environment. This is a no-nonsense restaurant, simple interior, friendly staff and everything we ordered was simply amazing! Also, their prices are normal, which can't be said of other restaurants in the city.

We have been here for a family dinner with our 2 kids. I did a reservation via phone in advance and all worked out very well. The place is cozy and the staff superb friendly. The food was awesome! We went for a daily menu and did not regret it. The restrooms are like in a 5☆ hotel. Several parking slots are available directly outside in front of the restaurant. We ordered a caesar salad, lentil soup and beef tartar as main course. The food was excellent, the staff very friendly and the price-quality-ratio is decent. We will for sure come back when we're in Karlsbad again.

Unique place. Fine dinning for a reasonable price. Pilsner Urquell beer is really in great hands here. Personnel is friendly and You shall definitely not miss the PlanktON light installation.

The food was not what I was expecting.. Beef tartare was clearly made by the machine (not chopped by hand) and the quality of meat was medium at best. Also was too spicy and lacked an egg... Beef steak- me and my friend ordered medium rare and his was raw... Apart from the fact that the meat was full of veins and chewy... The cook has some idea but lacks some basics... Staff: The female waitress very friendly. Shame I can't say the same about male waiter that was full of attitude, rude and making comments under his nose... We only had one hour to eat and we wasted it for this place... This place pretends to be something it is not and with staff like this (including the chef) will never be. Waste of time and money. We left a tip because we wanted to leave quick and waited long enough for the bill itself. So the tip was not for good Service and food- it was only because we had no time to wait another 15 minutes for change.

high quality food for very reasonable prices.. this restaurant was a huge surprise and it’s recommended in terms of food but don’t expect to find high service here.. I had a feeling that tourist are not welcomed.. we had to wait for everything starting with ordering food.. locals in the neighbored tables had a better service

The restaurant is outside the center, but a very good reason to walk a bit. The menu is mid sized, with lunch extra options. We had a soup, an appetizer and 2 mains. We enjoyed all the food, it was very tasty. Mid sized portions. There was a misunderstanding for the order based on English of the waiter probably, but we accepted the baked cheese instead of stuffed pepper and it was good (although quite expensive for non meat dish, more than the pork belly with 2 sides). The service was ok besides the change of dish and not bringing fork and plate for the kid without being asked to.

Service was five-star and the prices were very reasonable. It was easy to make a reservation online and when we arrived, we were welcomed warmly, as if everyone was happy to see us. I always feel a bit awkward not being able to speak Czech, but our server was good humored and attentive. My husband scored a Czech/ English menu, mine was Czech/German - which was no problem as my German is good enough to read a menu :-) We dined on the patio and it’s a relatively peaceful setting, just off the street and well shaded by mature trees - very pleasant. I had the pork ribs and my husband had the duck. I haven’t had BBQ since leaving the States several months ago, and was surprised that my ribs came relatively close. The sauce didn’t taste of chilis at all, but more like a very mild Texas style BBQ sauce with a slightly sweet finish. It paired well with the mustard and pickled onions on the plate. I assume in hindsight that the chilis mentioned on the menu referred to the peppers on the plate and not the sauce. My only complaint is the ends were dry. There were about three ribs in the middle that were perfectly cooked. But, they all had a very nice flavor and caramelized char, perhaps they were basted with honey? Plus, there was enough on my plate for me to take away. They packed it in a styrofoam box, so if you are in a hotel and don’t have a dish to reheat in, keep that in mind. My husband really enjoyed his roasted duck leg but thought there was a bit too much kraut. He was also a bit disappointed that there wasn’t a brew master’s choice beer on offer as described on the website. He was hoping to try something new. Our meals were substantial enough that I am glad we didn’t order an appetizer. We also did not have room for dessert. Overall, we had a great lunch and will return. It’s also a place we’d share with friends and recommend to visitors to Vary.
