The Cistercians of Plasy came to the then serf town of Lipý around 1253 at the invitation of the owners of the manor. In 1345, a Cistercian hospital from Hradiště nad Jizerou is documented on the site. It was burned down during the Hussite wars in 1426, and was probably restored in 1460. At the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, the monks returned from Plas. During the 16th century, the rectory declined, in 1580 it burned down again. Then it was rebuilt in 1582-85, the planned restoration for Albrecht of Wallenstein was thwarted by his assassination. The presence of Plasky monks is not documented in the second half of the 17th century, the provostship of Českolip remained in the title of the local abbots. In 1724, the building was set on fire by lightning, the restoration was completed in 1730. The last significant renovation took place in 1756 (the coat of arms in the eastern gable of the building). After the abolition of the mother monastery in 1786, the rectory and its property were bought by the owner of half of Česká Lípa, Count Michal Kounic. During the land reform, the building was bought by the city in 1922. In 1958, the complex was repaired and became the seat of the local dean. The last repair took place in the 1990s.
