Na stejném místě stával v 16. století městský pranýř, někdy se zde i popravovalo. Sloup byl vystavěn v roce 1704 nákladem trutnovského občana Jana Jiřího Najdíka o čemž svědčí český, německý a latinský nápis umístěný na sloupu.
The truly magnificent eleven-meter Baroque Holy Trinity Column consists of a sculpture with eight figures of saints, placed in two circles of a square pedestal. In the 16th century, a pillory was built in the same place, sometimes used for executions. The column was built in 1704 and financed by the Trutnov citizen Jan Jiří Najdík, as evidenced by the Czech, German and Latin inscription placed on the column.
