K	Karel Rys on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ V soutěži na pomník básníkovi Jaroslavu Vrchlickému zvítězil návrh již v roce 1938. Původně měl být pomník umístěn na Karlově náměstí v Praze na Novém Městě, ale k realizaci myšlenky došlo až po druhé světové válce. V roce 1951, kdy byl dokončen sádrový model, bylo rozhodnuto o umístění pomníku na Petříně. Pískovcovou sochu dokončil Josef Wagner (1901–1957) společně se svým bratrem Antonínem (1904–1978) v roce 1956, k jejímu osazení došlo v roce 1960. Hranatý podstavec pomníku navrhl architekt Jan Sokol (1904–1987). Socha v nadživotní velikosti znázorňuje básníka, který již zestárl; sedící postavu s listem papíru a perem v ruce, s pláštěm přehozeným přes ramena, podpírají dvě ženské postavy – alegorie Poezie a Dramatu. Za básníkovými zády se vlní pásky s nápisem: "Já v duši celé lidstvo nosil, vír jeho tužeb, muk a snů." Pomník je na severním zalesněném svahu Petřína v jihozápadní části Lobkovické zahrady, která je přístupná veřejnosti. Je umístěn na parkové cestě, která je pokračováním Promenády Raoula Wallenberga. The design for the monument to the poet Jaroslav Vrchlický won the design as early as 1938. The monument was originally supposed to be located on Charles Square in Prague's New Town, but the idea was not realized until after the Second World War. In 1951, when the plaster model was completed, it was decided to place a monument on Petřín. The sandstone statue was completed by Josef Wagner (1901–1957) together with his brother Antonín (1904–1978) in 1956, and was installed in 1960. The angular pedestal of the monument was designed by architect Jan Sokol (1904–1987). The life-size statue depicts a poet who is already old; a sitting figure with a sheet of paper and a pen in his hand, with a cloak draped over his shoulders, is supported by two female figures - allegories of Poetry and Drama. Behind the poet's back, ribbons are waving with the inscription: "I carried all humanity in the soul, the faith of its desires, torments and dreams." The monument is on the northern wooded slope of Petřín in the southwestern part of the Lobkovická Garden, which is open to the public. It is located on the park road, which is a continuation of the Raoul Wallenberg Promenade.
