Beautifully reconstructed Baroque monument - statue of st. John of Nepomuk, stands a short distance from the post office in a small park. If you know similar sculptures, notice the angels under John. This combination is not very common.

Baroque sandstone sculpture from 1759 by sculptor Martin Másl of Kutná Hora and stonemason Václav Kamenický of Kostelec nad Černými lesy, ordered for Plaňany as thanks for the preservation of the village during the Battle of Kolín by parish priest Bartl. In 1962, on the initiative of the Kamarýt brothers, the sculpture was transferred to Kolín, where it was temporarily placed in front of the north facade of the St. Bartholomew; this was probably saved from destruction. On August 30, 2008, the statue from Kolín was taken for restoration in the atelier of Jarmila Plachý in Blinka and on November 17, 2011 it was ceremonially unveiled on Plaňanské Square near the place where it was originally. At the same time, the surroundings of the statue were newly renovated.
