Původně gotická zvonice byla vystavěna v roce 1525 v severozápadním nároží tehdejšího hřbitova, v roce 1570 byla přestavěna v renesančním slohu italským mistrem Filipem do podoby hranolové věže s dřevěným zvoncovým patrem a cibulovitou bání s lucernou. V roce 1670 zvonice vyhořela, a další oprava se nesla v duchu raného baroka. Dnešní podoba věže je z roku 1890, kdy architekt Josef Mocker nahradil dřevěné zvonicové patro nástavbou zděného nejvyššího podlaží s pseudogotickými sdruženými okny a ciferníky hodin. The originally Gothic bell tower was built in 1525 in the northwest corner of the former cemetery, it was rebuilt in 1570 in the Renaissance style by Italian master Filip in the form of a prismatic tower with a wooden bell tower and onion bowl with a lantern. The bell tower burned down in 1670, and another repair was carried out in the spirit of early Baroque. The present shape of the tower dates back to 1890, when architect Josef Mocker replaced the wooden bell tower with a superstructure of a top-floor masonry with pseudo-gothic combined windows and clocks. In 1959, the renaissance form of the facade with lettering sgraffiti has been freely reconstructed from the preserved remains. The wooden staircase leads you to the highest floor where the Baroque bells Stepan and Marie are hung, made by master Jan Pricquey in Mladá Boleslav in 1671. Interesting fact: The local bells are fixed with the heart upside down, and they are moved by steping on the pedals. This technical curiosity, formerly extended to a number of places in central and northeastern Bohemia, can be found outside Kouřim just in the village of Rovensko pod Troskami in Semily.

The present appearance of the tower dates back to 1890, when the architect Josef Mocker replaced the wooden belfry floor with an extension of the brick top floor with pseudo-gothic combined windows and clock faces. In 1959 the Renaissance facade with letter sgraffito was freely reconstructed from the preserved remains. You can climb the wooden staircase to the top floor, where the baroque bells Štěpán and Marie, which were made in 1671 by the young master of Mladá Boleslav, Jan Pricquey, are suspended. Interesting fact: The local bells are fixed with the heart up, and they move by pedaling. This technical curiosity, previously widespread in many places in Central and Northeastern Bohemia, can be found today in addition to Kouřim only in the village Rovensko pod Troskami in Semily. 34 metrů vysoká goticko-renesanční zvonice stojí v těsné blízkosti chrámu sv. Štěpána a spolu s ním vytváří dominantu Kouřimi.
The 34-meter-high Gothic-Renaissance bell tower stands in close proximity to the Church of Sts. Stephen and together with it creates the dominant Kouřim. It dates back to 1525, originally a lower bell tower with a wooden floor was modified after a fire in 1670. Inside it hides two bells - Stephen and Mary, which are hung up by the heart, which can still be seen in Rovensko pod Troskami. The bells are swinging by pedaling. Wonderful.

Je to krásná gotická stavba s renesančním zevnějškem. Opravená potěší oko. Myslím, že soubor s kostelem sv. Štěpána, si zaslouží být NKP.
It is a beautiful Gothic building with a Renaissance exterior. Repaired will please the eye. I think the ensemble with the church of St. Štěpán, deserves to be NKP.

Krasna zvonice v tesne blizkosti kostela sv. Stepana. Obrcene zavesene zvony, pouze na dvou mistech v CR.
Beautiful bell tower near the church of St. Stepana. Inverted bells, only in two places in the CR.
