My stay at Travel&Joy Prague was okay. I am a solo female traveller who is interrailing through Mid/Eastern Europe. I stayed for three nights in a 6-bed mixed room. Check-in and check-out were rather messy because the reception only operates from 08:30 until 17:00 or so (this is due to COVID). They have made arrangements with the people from the bar/restaurant downstairs but their English is not that good. I did manage to settle everything. You cannot pay by card so get some cash from the bank's ATM (there are two nearby)! Room and hostel: The room I stayed in was in the back building (building "2") at the far end of the alley. The windows were right above the bar/restaurant "garden" seating area (and the rooftop terrace? I haven't seen it to be honest). When I was there, there was very few noise since it was off-season and already pretty cold outside during the evening. The room and beds were clean. I saw the maid everyday in the afternoon when I came back home, so I am sure that they clean it. The mattress and cover were a little thin... I hope they provide extra blankets in winter. The bottom beds of the bunks have curtains for privacy. There are lockers. The way they work here is with keys. So there's a main door key, a room key and a locker key. You pay a kč200 deposit (roughly €8), so either pay with a €10 bill or you will be stuck with a kč200 bill when you check out (which I had when I was travelling on to Budapest)... The kitchen/living room was clean. The kitchen stove was not working, so they put a portable one instead. It worked fine but that's only because I was alone in the kitchen (otherwise more would be needed). The bathroom, however, has mold on the ceiling. The floor of the shower was also not really clean (it had hairs in the corners). The toilets also had these small brown "spots" on the toilet seat lid? I don't know what it was but it sure looked nasty. This really disappointed me, but it's not so nasty that you can't use it. Laundry: They have a laundry rack and an ironing board (although I did not see an iron) in case you want to do laundry just around the corner! Laundry is at QuickWash. It costs kč120 (€5). Neighbourhood: Travel&Joy is very close to the Národní Trída metro stop. Since the metro system in Prague works very efficiently, this allows you to get to any place in the city in a short amount of time. There are also multiple trams going through this street. There are several supermarkets nearby (Albert, Billa and Tesco), and also cafés and restaurants! The hostel is located in New Town and therfore less touristy than other places. You will most certainly see Czech people on the streets! Staff and other guests: The staff was kind and helpful, they all spoke English too. I didn't have enough space on the laundry rack and they provided me with some extra clothes hangers. I have not interacted much with other guests because I had a rather busy schedule and was out most of the day and evening. I was in there with two Polish girls who were there together. The last night, I was all alone (kind of convenient since I had to get up early in the morning).

These are apartments, each with a dorm, kitchen, bath and a dining area. You can only access your assigned apartment, so the only common area to meet other guests is an outdoor beer garden which is part of a bar/restaurant (and was empty on a Thursday night). So, it's good for groups who want to share an apartment but solo travelers will probably be disappointed. On a positive note, everything was clean and comfortable, with good beds, baths, showers, etc. and it's right next to a tram stop with connections all over the city.

Overall a very nice budget place... One thing which I didn't like is that it doesn't have an elevator/lift... So u will have to climb up the stairs to the 3rd floor... Enjoy a picture of the view from the window.

We were 2 people, and booked room with 8 beds. 11€ per night per person was the rate when we booked. Staff is nice and speaks English. All amenities are provided like water heating kettle, stove, pans for making food, refrigerator, toaster. You have to bring your own bath towel otherwise it costs 1.5€ to rent it. Also, you need to bring your own shampoo, body wash as i am not sure if the ones in bathroom belonged to someone or if they were provided by hostel. The room is very spacious, clean with bedding (1 thick quilt) provided (just that the pillow is very thin). You may bring your own bedsheet/thin quilt if you feel hot (night was hot) with the thick quilt (but morning gets cool depending on weather). The toilet and bathroom are separate, with bathroom having two sinks, which is good to manage with 8 people. It is in the center of the city with 15 min walk from major highlights like Charles Bridge etc. You have to deposit 10€ for the key to the room which you get back later. The people you share room with is your luck. We were lucky that people didn't return until 3am so we had good sleep, also once they returned they took care to be silent and take care not to disturb our sleep.

Okay hostel, but staff was kind of rude.. Especially the man working at the bar, so mean and rude. Cancelled our reservation last minute without reason.

nice location. good, that it has a kitchen. but there are no lids for the pans and pots. and the bunk beds are shaky and not stable. you feel the vibration everytime when the other person moves. That's not a joy at all.

Good place to stay. Got a private room for recovery from the long flight. Late check in was no problem thanks to the very kind bartender for the after hours option. Also used their luggage storage on the final day without issue. Very good, very clean place with a great location.
