Jeden z předních tuzemských šéfkuchařů se narodil 6. srpna 1979 v Praze. Vyučil se v pražském hotelu Ambassador a po škole sbíral zkušenosti v restauracích jako Rybí trh a International Zlatá Praha. Absolvoval stáže v michelinských restauracích Tim Raue v Berlíně a Hangar 7 v Salzburgu. Kuchařskou praxi získal také v renomovaném švýcarském restaurantu Häberlis Schützenhaus. Po návratu ze zahraničí do České republiky se stal šéfkuchařem restaurace Le Terroir, kde pracoval deset let a získal michelinské ocenění Bib Gourmand. Podílel se na konceptu restaurace známého Grandhotelu Pupp v Karlových Varech nebo gastro provozů Pohostinec Monarch a Pohostinec Karlín. Téměř pět let působil jako šéfkuchař pražského Grand Cru Restaurantu, během kterých se stal trojnásobným vítězem ankety Zlatý kuchař. Otevřením vlastní restaurace U Matěje si splnil svůj dlouholetý sen.

Finding U Matěje just 2 hours before we reach to our hotel. We drove with car do it is quite convenient to reach there, only 10 Minute drive from our hotel. The have fixed simple (but delicious) menu and will offer some special dishes randomly per day. We have luck to try 2 special appetizers: pulled duck breast with fat chop, onion chutney & tasty pickle radishes; Tomato soup with elegant touch of celery & feta cheese. The main dishes also amazingly tasty & balance. I love the way how Chef play with flavors, it reminds me our my Asian root in different. Totally worth the way & very nice surprise for 1st day in Prague. Strongly recommend to any Foodie out there. I will definitely come back soon, may ne stay for few day near by so I can try their whole menu step by step ???

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As a fan of Masterchef, Mr Punčochař, was one of the judges of Masterchef Czechia, and he promoted his restaurant in one of their episodes , I decided to visit the restaurant and sample his offering . What a delightful place !! Friendly staff and the atmosphere was too. Could do with a bit of music . Beer was great and the pork ribs I had were succulent and juicy. The owner and chef I met personally to thank him for a wonderful dining experience . Recommended for sure if you looking for authentic czech quality food and beer .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Everything spot on. One of the best coffees I had I Prague. What we really appreciated when the rain started we’re asked to move upstairs. Could then finish our experience. Everything was also super fast. We had starters, mains, coffee and desert. Left the restaurant after 1.15 hour. Well done! Also the girl who was our waitress was absolutely professional and polite.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely place, cozy atmosphere, nice staff and lovely relaxing interior, giving you a feeling that you left the city and more attached to daily life. It's always a challenge to find a dish for my vegan spouse, but this time it was easy and tasty asparagus with side dish. Wishing come back for drinks at summer hot night.

Service ok, we watched master chef with Jan puncochar, and they said in the tv show that that meat should be seen in the plate but it was covered with the sauce :)))
