★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Creepy place, the rooms were more or less ok, but the kitchen and the bathrooms are dirty and smelly. Seems like it wasn't clean since many years. But for the price I'm giving one more star.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was scared to sleep there. Not sure if it could have been worse. It was a trip 50 years back. You could see the walls have been thrown up, other things probably as well. End up looking for a different place to stay even though I already paid for it :/

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good price for hotel, breakfast ok.
But restaurant was closed and random hours (once 10:30pm once 9pm), nobody spoke English, hot water was not available early in the morning (7am water was still cold in the shower)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you're looking soviet union feeling then it's the perfect place due to everything in room is old like from some museum. Alright beds maybe not.
Breakfast we had was just bread, butter and jam (and I don't meant ham) + coffee/tea.
Brno old town is 35 minutes walk far.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I stayed at Ubytovna Brno hostel for 2 nights with fellow students during our time in Brno. It was cheap, I admit it. The location is nice: quite close to tram stop, shops and you can get fast to the city centre.
The staff of the hostel was friendly but speaks very basic English.
The accommodation was a museum of communism: a classic example of Soviet interior and design. There was one socket per room with 3 beds (or 3 phones to charge), the kitchen area was small with nearly no equipments (a sink, some tables and a 2 ring hob) and just one ladies' bathroom with a toilet on the entire floor.
Yet, somehow we managed to survive.
The beds were fairly hard but comfortable (no squeaky or protruding springs).
Hostel's free WiFi works only on the ground floor of the building.
I recommend bringing a socket splitter, a mess kit/dishes & utensils (if you want to have some tea or prepare food).
